To get the best value for your effort we ask typically ask 3 licensed contractors to provide bids for installing your project.  It is during this process that you learn who will be the best contractor for your project given the level of skill needed, personality, and cost proposed.  Installation costs will vary, and simply by comparing bids you can save significant money. In fact, most of my clients have saved much more than my design fees through the bidding process.

A preconstruction meeting with the contractor will help you in many ways

A preconstruction meeting with the contractor is useful to review the plan and discuss any questions, scheduling, and staging.  Site observation during the construction progress helps assure the plans are being followed correctly and questions are answered promptly. Inspection of plants prior to planting is useful to assure health and vigor. As-built drawings will give you an accurate record of the installation. You will want to know where utilities and irrigation components are located for any future projects.
